Senior Inside Adjuster

Responsible for providing efficient, prompt, and courteous service to claimants, insureds, and agents through the investigation, analysis, and settlement of claims of larger size and/or moderate complexity.  Collaborates with counsel concerning the settlement or defence of arbitration/litigation claims.

Responsibilities :

  • Investigate, confirm coverage, negotiate settlement and recovery, and conduct reporting and documentation of claims of larger size and/or moderate complexity in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of actual claims through contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses, other carriers, physicians, contractors, lawyers, etc.
  • Review and interpret available coverage, recognizing policy exclusions, and applying facts of loss.
  • Determine and obtain the type of required documentation necessary to support claims in accordance with company policy, as well as federal, provincial, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate medical, income, and other necessary assessments and reviews.
  • Prepare summaries and files for litigations, mediation/arbitration, and multidisciplinary assessments
  • Assist in development of training programs.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Casualty Claims including Bill 198, and CGL claims in litigation.  Experience with instructing defence counsel, attendance at mediations and pre-trials is required. 
  • CIP designation; Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex insurance contracts and changes in the interpretation as a result of case or statuary law.
  • Ability to assess liability and understand case law developments in the jurisdiction.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, investigative, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to plan, organize, and manage multiple demands and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a team player or independent contributor; Self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills to explain processes and terms; demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy and understanding in dealings with customers.
